CHANGING FACES

 

Julie Leadham’s project is an exploration of identity. Elements of identity include beliefs and expressions that go to make one person’s identity very different from the next persons.

 

Sometimes people hide their identity to protect themselves.  They do not feel comfortable with their personal or their social identity.  These people can adopt a false identity.  Sometimes, people are forced to hide their identity, and other times people do so by choice. Individuals can adopt another identity for escapism or simply because they enjoy becoming another identity to their every day norm.

 

Julie’s aim is to show people who express a side to their identity which may be hidden from others. She wants to highlight them in such a way as to make the subjects become extraordinary in an ordinary environment. Each is an illuminated frozen moment of an individual as they are at that particular point in life, then in time and place.

 

Julie asks you to consider that you will bring your own knowledge, beliefs, life experiences and cultural identity and these will influence how you perceive each image.
